Site Purpose

Every year, New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) reviews thousands of applications from amateur sporting clubs, rescue and life-saving services, education, health, the arts, cultural and community groups. These groups are all applying for grant money comprised of funds collected from gaming machines operators across New Zealand.

To manage and facilitate the distribution of over 30 million dollars of grant money every year, NZCT needed a world class grants management system. SilverStripe worked with NZCT to create the core application which runs their organisation.

What We Did

  • Interviewed key staff from the various departments within NZCT to determine goals and needs so we could architect the application appropriately.
  • Built a custom web application from the ground up which supports NZCT's workflow in a flexible and highly efficient manner.
  • Built in rock-solid auditing of data.
  • Integrated with banking systems, online applications, and document scanning servers.

What Users Can Do Now

The grants management system we built is now the core of how NZCT runs their business. The system is used by around twenty staff on a daily basis, and around fifty staff on a monthly basis.

Measures of Success

After its initial launch early in 2007, we have continued to work with NZCT to extend the functionality of the system. Thanks to the flexibility of the SilverStripe platform, we were able to help NZCT change many of their legacy processes, which resulted in significant financial savings.
