Ofir Picazo

GSoC Hacker

Ofir is from Mexico City. He goes to the Universidad del Valle de Mexico where he is in his final year of a computer engineering degree. Before that, he studied computer programming in Algonquin College, Ottawa. When Ofir is not studying, he is working as an independent software developer for different consulting firms. He also takes German lessons in his spare time, likes to travel a lot, plays the guitar in a local band, and loves to solve the Rubik's cube.

Catch a man a fish, and you can sell it to him. Teach a man to fish, and you ruin a wonderful business opportunity. Karl Marx

Ofir first heard of the Google Summer of Code in 2006. He applied to work with SilverStripe in 2007 because he wanted to contribute to an emerging PHP open source organisation and to develop his ideas into a usable product. Ofir likes to work side by side with professional developers and plans to continue contributing to SilverStripe when GSoC is over: "I'm an OSS supporter and I'd really like to be a part of an open source organization."

Ofir will be working on Google Maps support for SilverStripe, mentored by Hayden Smith.
