SilverStripe helps the world move forward

We agree Al Gore has a point. We agree that the leaders of the world must concentrate more on preserving our natural environment, and that through public education, the people shall elect politicians who care about the lives of our future generations.

For well over a hundred years, just prior to election season, the US Democratic Party have held an official convention to announce policies, garner support, and determine their candidate for President. This year, the event is to be held in Denver, with 35,000 total  attendees, and millions watching on the television worldwide.

The supporting website, DemConvention.com, just relaunched, and is expected to build up to multiple millions of unique visitors as political interest boils.

Thanks to the choice of the DNCC's Official Website Producer, Dewey Digital, the SilverStripe web framework now powers the website.

The website in it current form is just the first phase. Tim Chambers, the cofounder of Dewey Digital explains what made SilverStripe special:

"We rapidly needed a robust website that quickly and efficiently let us push English and Spanish content to a vibrant-looking website for the millions of people interested in the November 2008 presidential election.

We also needed a platform that could continually evolve to support the latest emerging web technologies. After evaluating the alternatives, the clear choice to us was SilverStripe, especially since we could rely on working with the core developers to ensure success of the website, a critical part of the overall Convention experience."

  • Nice vote for open source! By contrast if you check the Republican's site (available as both GOP.com and RNC.org), and view the homepage source, you'll see extensive use of links to Microsoft .ASPX pages...

  • When Sig was five he made a wish before blowing the candles out. I asked him what he wished for and he replied, "I wish we would have no more bombs". So now maybe you guys can contribute to make that dream come true by ousting the current lot in power... So proud of you. X
