Welcome to our new website!

Welcome to our newly re-designed website! The launch of our new SilverStripe.com and SilverStripe.org sites is a big deal to us and we hope you find the changes useful.

One of the things we wanted to improve over the old SilverStripe.com site was to have a more clear distinction between information about our open source software and information about our company. We got a lot of feedback from developers and clients which centered around the fact that they couldn't find what they needed on our site. So we decided to create SilverStripe.org and have that as the home for all things related to our open source product.

As we started splitting out the content from the .com to a new .org, we pretty quickly realised a site re-design was in order. We enlisted the help of an extaordinairy designer, Sally Flewelling (moc.liamg@gnillewelfyllas), who guided us through the design process. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and so a big Thank You goes to her. We'd also like to thank Daisuke Maki for the very generous donation of the SilverStripe.org domain name to us. Finally, thank you to all the SilverStripe employees, especially the ones putting in extra hours to make these two sites happen (alongside multiple client site launches!): Sean Harvey, Saophalkun Ponlu, James Kirkus-Lamont, Michael Andrewartha, Will Rossiter, Sam Minnée, and our project manager leading the charge: Sibylle Schwarz. Thanks guys, you seriously rock.

So, to sum up:

SilverStripe.com for commercial stuff

SilverStripe.org for open source stuff

We've put a "give feedback" link at the bottom of each page. If you have comments about the new sites, please let us know.

Enjoy!

Brian

  • The new site is brilliant! Great improvement, and I think its a great idea that you split the website content in two. For the sake of developers and clients!

Great design, great organisation, great product!

  • I agree with insic, the shadow of the menu is possibly to long, maybe a little shorter, or something like that...

And i would also like to see search implemented.

But nice work splitting the sites and they do look good.

  • @cms: Good points. We are planning on updating our demo site visually as well as adding search.

You're right -- search has been something that's historically been quite custom (implemented by site developers as per their needs). Recently we've been elevating search to make it more easily accessible and not requiring so much custom work.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Very nice design.

Now the plain design of the demo need to be updated too.

One major weakness of SilverStripe is searching. This can easily be seen in the lack of search field in the demo. If you look through the showcase sites, very few of them have the search capability.
None of the available theme have the search build-in :(

  • The new design is excellent! Very well thought out, and an excellent division between silverstripe the company and the app. platform. Very sleek! Kudos!

  • hmmmm this is a way better compare to the old one. but when i see the site? i feel that there is something lacking. I just cant point it out. and the top menu in my own opinion needs refinement maybe the shadow.
